Travel

By plane

Berlin’s airport, Tegel, is 10km from the conference site and is a hub for Germany's second largest airline Air Berlin. Other airlines for long-distance flights include Lufthansa and United.

The university building and conference site are in the inner city of Berlin. The easiest and cheapest way to reach the conference site from the airport is the Express-Bus TXL, which is a 30-minute ride to the bus stop Unter den Linden/Friedrichstraße. From here the walking distance to the conference site is 350 meters (http://goo.gl/maps/TTLrt).

Tickets for the TXL-Bus can be bought on the bus, from vending machines at the bus stops or at the BVG booth inside the terminal building at the entrance near the bus stops. The current ticket price is € 2,60.
Please note that Tegel Airport does not have any rail or U-Bahn connections.

You can reach the center of Berlin by taxi as well. A ride costs about €22. Depending on the time of day and traffic, it could take only 25 min…or twice that.

By train

You can reach Berlin from all directions by using the fast InterCityExpress-, InterCity-, EuroCity- and InterRegio Trains. The new central station Berlin Hauptbahnhof was opened on May 28, 2006. The Express-Bus TXL in front of the station takes 10-15 minutes to reach the bus stop Unter den Linden/Friedrichstraße nearest the conference site (http://goo.gl/maps/TTLrt).

By bus

Eurolines operates from and to Berlin, Paris, London and other major European cities. The earlier you book, the better your chances of finding a cheap ticket.

Getting around Berlin
Berlin has a good public transport system. You can get around by tram, bus, S-Bahn, subway and taxi. The CityTourCard-Ticket is available specifically for tourists (valid for between 48 hours and 5 days). Another option is the BerlinWelcomeCard with special discounts on 200 tourist highlights.

Conference location
The conference will be held in the historic main building of Humboldt-University Unter den Linden 6 (UL6) and in the nearby university building Dorotheenstraße 24 (DOR24), 10117 Berlin.
